Adding Some New Shots To Flickr

I still have hundreds of photos to go through and process from the World Junior Championships this winter.  I am slowly getting them sorted, edited and uploaded to various places.  My favorites are Flickr and Wikipedia.  I don’t do this as a career or anything like that, so this is pretty much as good as it gets for exposure.  I had someone email me to tell me that they wanted to use one of my Jyri Niemi photos in a newspaper in Finland, my Taylor Hall photo is used in this article, and my Jordan Eberle photo is on the first page of Google’s Image Search results.

When going through this many photos, I find a lot of garbage, and a few gems.  I have also found a lot of photos of guys spitting (mainly Mattias Tedenby, that dude spits a lot), which isn’t quite so cool.   This photo here is one of the gems – seriously, what is that one Swedish guy seeing?

Anyone else into photography?  I had borrowed my parents camera for the World Juniors, but they are getting me the same setup as my graduation present for finishing my PhD, I am really looking forward to having a full year to get used to everything it can do.

I’ve been meaning to tell you that I enjoyed your pictures of the World Junior Championships, and found your advice–on both taking hockey pictures AND on the camera and lenses you were using–EXTREMELY helpful.

I’ve dabbled in photography for 15 years, but never had any success in taking sports pictures. Thanks to your advice, I got a decent digital SLR and telephoto lens. This is my first attempt at some hockey photos:

  • Those are some great shots.

The camera makes a huge difference, I was really surprised with that myself.

I enjoy your pics. I have some quick pics noone else has from wjc in stoon. I only had my blackberry but backstage, behind the bench and dressing room ones. I even have an ellis stretching in the hallway. I feel like a heal showing these cause the guys were so cool with us.

  • Those are cool to have. I wouldn’t post anything I didn’t feel comfortable sharing, so don’t feel any pressure. I just figure what happens on the ice is fair game.
