Colby Armstrong to the Toronto Maple Leafs

Colby Armstrong has signed a three year deal ($3 million per season) with the Toronto Maple Leafs.  Another big pickup for the Leafs.  At the very least, they won’t be a very fun team to play against.  Armstrong is another step in building Brian Burke’s version of the Leafs.

As usual with the Leafs, I’m sure half of Leafs nation loves this deal, and half hates it.  They are a volatile bunch.  I like it.  Its not ridiculous money.  Armstrong is fairly young, and he’s an effort / energy guy.  He contributes a lot to a team, and I think the Leafs are a better team with him in the lineup.

Armstrong just finished up an interview with TSN, he basically confirmed that he signed with the Leafs because they offered the most money.  Big deal.  The Leafs have the money, they might as well spend it.

  • I had a 10 min coversation with Colby today about life and FA. He said the process was quick and he’s quite happy about playing in TO and Canada. He commented he’s used to the spotlight rooming with ‘Syd and Malk’. He likes where the Leafs are going too. Now for the kicker, I have the first pic of Colby in a Leafs jersey, he told me this was the first time he’s put on a Leafs jersey.
