Jordan Eberle wraps up his career in Regina

Jordan Eberle has played his final home game for the Regina Pats, and it will be one he will always remember, even though he would probably be OK with forgetting it.  The Pats got stomped by the Brandon Wheat Kings 9-3 Friday night at the Brandt Center.  Eberle has been a career Pat, after growing up in Regina watching games from the stands in the same arena.

It was a blemish on what has otherwise been an amazing run for Eberle in Regina.  He has gone from being an undersized late round pick in the WHL Bantam Draft to NHL first rounder and national hero while playing for Team Canada.  The Eberle love around Regina the past few days has been amazing to see.  He definitely deserves it, but it kind of makes me feel a bit bad for Colten Teubert, who has been Eberle for pretty much every step of their junior careers.  They haven’t played very many games separately since starting with the Pats.

Eberle is currently expected to join the AHL’s Springfield Falcons after the Pats season wraps up completely, but there is still some speculation that he might get to make his NHL debut with the Oilers.

Here’s an image of one of the SaskTel billboards near my place.
